The Council of Chief State School Officers and the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices have published a draft of what they are calling Core State Standards which represent core minimum skills and knowledge for “success in college and careers.”
initial arguments seem to be breaking down along predictable lines, with those for arguing that these standards represent something long overdue, while those opposing say it’s a one size fits all approach.
Either way, it will be something that Independent schools will have to respond to. You can read it an doffer comments here: http://www.corestandards.org/
