Several years ago, I read a quote by David Foster Wallace who talked about how the brave new writers were going to have to write happy, upbeat, optimistic stories. They would be brave because no one was writing that kind of story and no editor wanted to read that kind of story.
I wonder what direction brave new image-makers will take us. We’re so saturated with visual images, and seemingly all types are in vogue. I met a guy tonight who had a lens-baby lens on his camera – a really neat tool designed to make your $1000 Nikon take pictures that look as though they came from a $16 Holga.
