It’s crazy to try and be human. It is so difficult and so complex – why would anyone choose it? The complexity of emotions, of the need to know and make sense, of how these fit in with the schemes and desires and needs of others. Who could predict that out of our basic wants to be warm and fed and survive we would create this complex infrastucture of rails and lines and tarmac and solid silicone?
The people here – they display, to me, so much. Teacher – student should not be a diminishing relationship (for either party). It should be something simple and fertile, out of which the complexities of our life can reach outward, and toward the full expression of imagination and knowledge and self-sacrifice. We so often make things much more complex than they need be.
