We took a short all-faculty retreat (all-faculty being from all three campuses, plus the admin office) up to Harper’s Ferry, WV. Unlike some of these retreats, this was both good and refreshing.
Having said that, I like this picture because it captures what anyone who has been to such an event can surely recognize – the cardtables covered with tablecloth, the litter of water bottles, paper and pens, the no-man’s land inside the U-shape layout of the tables, and the inevitable drag of gravity that one feels as the time in the chair drags on. And on.
All in all, fairly harmless side-effects to an overall healthy process. And perhaps illuminating to the atmosphere within the typical classroom.
