Though I advocate for small schools, the real goal of course, is to find the right size school for each child. There is no question that many students benefit from being in a large school.
Ultimately though, it’s all about the relationship between student and teacher, and that’s where the perfect fit happens: when the teacher finds a responsive student and the student finds a mentor. And whether that comes in a small school or large, outside of school or online, at church or through a local business-school partnership matters little.
I just happen to think it happens more often in small schools.

Agreed. For many kids (including mine) it happened in band, drama, chorus, sports, newspaper, yearbook, art. Alas, for far to many it doesn’t happen at all.
